"Soy insulation is the most favorite green insulation method because of its advantages. This is made from natural product 'Soybean' and directly applied to wall or roof in a form of liquid spray foam (chemical free)."   ...from this post

A house is the basic necessity of every human being, because it protects us from all odd atmospheric conditions. That's why it should be well insulated to keeps you cooler during hotter seasons and maintain a good temperature during cold months. A properly insulated house can reduce your electric bill too. Now a days the planet is going under a treat of "green house effect" caused by CO2 emission, keeping this in mind we should choose a better earth-friendly insulation method while constructing a new house or modifying an existing one. In earlier fiberglass batts installed houses were more common and worked well, but they had some toxic effects. Fiberglass batts don't catch fire easily, but when they do, produce more toxic gas substances and can cause itchy skin. So what other green-friendly home insulation options are
available, that will be better for your family and for the earth? There are several "green" insulation technologies like Recycled cellulose fiber, Sheep's wool insulation, Recycled denim, Clay tiles and Soy insulation which can make your life more comfortable and reduce green house effect efficiently.

After being applied it expand like foam, easily fill all air places and cracks and immediately become solid. Once it is used, maintain a very long life without losing its qualities.

Types
There are two types of soy-based foam insulation available.
i) Open cell, and
ii) Closed cell
The second one is more expensive with a higher R value than first one.

Benefits from this type of insulation
  • Saves electricity- If your roof and walls are soy insulated, then it will keeps up the conditioned air for long. So that in summer, your air conditioner usage will reduce to the minimum level and in winter you also feel more comfortable.

  • Since it is only a spray, you can apply it everywhere  in your home like, crack or any tight area.
Stay green... Stay safe

There is another good point; you may have a question in your mind, i.e. can soy insulation attracts bug, rat or birds? The answer is NO, because the soybean goes under a long process while it is mixing with other synthetics. And it loses all its eatable properties, once it get mixed. So, you can use it, in order to make your life better, healthy and safe.

  1. I had no idea that there was soy based insulation! This is awesome. I have been looking up information on Lynchburg foam insulation to get our attic insulation re-applied since it's been in the house since it was built. Thanks so much for this great information.
